What it actually does
Vonage Business Communications is a cloud phone system. Your team calls and texts from the Vonage mobile and desktop apps, and admins manage users, numbers, and the phone menu in the Admin Portal. You can port your existing number, and one local number comes with no monthly charge.
Mobile covers the apps, unlimited domestic calling, SMS and MMS, voicemail, and Virtual Receptionist. Premium adds desk phones, video meetings for up to 200 people, team messaging, single sign-on, and an App Center with over 20 integrations. Advanced adds on-demand call recording for 15 hours a month, voicemail transcription, and call groups that ring several people at once.
Price per line drops as you add lines. On the annual promotion, Mobile is $13.99 for 1 to 4 lines, $12.59 for 5 to 19, and $10.49 for 20 to 99. Premium runs $20.99, $19.59, and $17.49. Advanced runs $27.99, $26.59, and $24.49. At 100 lines or more, you call sales. Our math: three Premium lines on the annual promotion come to $62.97 a month before taxes and fees.
Who should buy it
Buy it
Buy it if you have a few people or a few dozen on the phone and want one system for calls, texts, a menu, and video meetings. Agencies, clinics, law offices, and service businesses with a front desk fit well. The annual price is competitive once you pass 5 lines.
The catch
The reason not to buy is that nothing on the price page answers a call with AI. Virtual Receptionist plays a menu. The AI Virtual Assistant is a custom project you scope with sales. And the best price ties you to a 1-year contract with early termination fees that can reach the full contract value.
If missed calls are your problem, compare the AI receptionists aisle. RingCentral prices its AI receptionist at $49 a month for 100 minutes, Nextiva sells one at $99 a month, and Ooma Office has AI answering from $14.99 a month. If you only need a cheap line, Google Voice starts at $10 a month.
