Pros

  • nextiva.com/nextiva-pricing (Oct 20, 2026): Core $15/user/mo annually or $23 monthly, Engage $25 annually or $50 monthly, Scale $75/user/mo. Contact center Essential from $75/agent/mo
  • XBert AI receptionist is $99/mo for 100 conversations (calls, texts, or chats), $0.99 each after. No contract and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Calls under 30 seconds do not count
  • XBert runs standalone or on a Nextiva plan, answers calls, texts, and web chat, books into Google Calendar, Calendly, or Cal.com, and hands off to your team with the conversation attached

Cons

  • AI answering costs more per call than smaller vendors. Our math: 200 conversations is $198 a month on XBert. Rosie is $49 for 250 minutes on our card, though booking and transfers start at its $149 plan
  • The $15 and $25 phone prices require a 12-month minimum term for new customers with 1 to 100 employees. Monthly Core is $23 and monthly Engage is $50
  • Nextiva's own pages disagree on the trial. The XBert page says 30-day money-back guarantee and also offers a 14-day free trial. Engage and Scale are sold through a demo, not self-serve checkout
  • Nextiva prints its phone prices on nextiva.com/nextiva-pricing (checked October 20, 2026): Core $15 per user a month on annual pricing or $23 monthly, Engage $25 or $50, Scale $75 per user a month.
  • The annual prices need a paid 12-month minimum term. Our math: monthly Core costs $8 more per user each month, or $96 a year.
  • XBert, the AI receptionist, is $99 a month for 100 conversations and $0.99 for each one after. A call counts once it passes 30 seconds.
  • Our math: one Core seat plus XBert is $114 a month on the annual term, or $122 on monthly billing.

What it actually does

Nextiva sells two things that are easy to blur on the pricing page. The first is a business phone system. Core gives each user calls, business texting (100 texts per user a month), video meetings, call routing, team chat, and the mobile and desktop apps. Engage raises texting to 500 per user, adds a toll-free number with up to 2,000 free minutes, live chat and a chatbot, and advanced reporting. Scale adds AI transcription and summaries, skills-based routing, and unlimited texting. A separate contact center line starts at $75 per agent a month.

The second is XBert, the AI receptionist. It answers calls, texts, and website chat 24 hours a day, learns from your website or Google Business Profile, books appointments, and transfers to a person with the conversation attached. Live integrations at no cost include Google Calendar, Calendly, Cal.com, Zoho, and Housecall Pro. Nextiva lists Salesforce, HubSpot, ServiceTitan, and others as requests that take 2 to 4 days. XBert works on its own or on top of a Nextiva phone plan, and the checkout page shows it alone at $99 a month plus taxes and fees.

It is not a live answering service. No person picks up when XBert gets stuck. It hands the call to your team.

Who should buy it

Buy it

Buy it if you are replacing an old phone system anyway and want the AI receptionist from the same company that carries your numbers. Medical and dental offices, law firms, property managers, and multi-location businesses get the most out of that, since XBert handles location-specific greetings and Nextiva says it is HIPAA-eligible once a business associate agreement is signed.

The catch

The reason not to buy is the meter. One hundred conversations is about five answered calls a business day, by our math. Our math: a business answering 200 a month pays $198 for XBert alone. If you are happy with your phone and only want something to pick up when nobody can, Rosie and Upfirst cost less to start, and RingCentral AI Receptionist is $49 for 100 minutes on our card. If callers need a person, look at Smith.ai instead.

Also price the term before you sign. The $15 Core price needs a 12-month commitment. A business that wants to leave in month four should budget for the $23 monthly rate. Nextiva’s site advertises up to 12 months free for businesses switching from another contract, but its terms require proof of your current contract and a 12-month Core or Engage subscription.
