What it actually does
OnCrew is the AI receptionist at oncrew.ai. It answers the shop phone in your company name, takes the problem and the address, emails a summary with the transcript, and can text the on-call tech when you mark the call urgent. Keep your number and forward it, or take a local OnCrew line. The homepage demo and signup path are built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and roofing crews, not for a dental PBX.
Three plans on the live homepage on September 10, 2026. Starter is $49 a month for 100 included calls, one AI number, alerts to you and three people, four live transfer destinations, and eight on-call slots. Pro is $149 for 400 calls, two AI numbers, five alert people, six transfers, and twenty on-call slots. Multi-Truck is $349 for 1,000 calls, five AI numbers, fifteen alert people, sixteen transfers, fifty on-call slots, plus per-tech on-call schedules. Schema and FAQ print the same floor: From is Starter monthly cash at $49. Every plan bills $0.99 per call after the included pack. Alert texts past the plan allowance (150 a month on Starter) are $0.05 each. The line keeps answering. There is no silent upgrade to the next subscription.
It is not a human answering service. There is no Smith.ai person behind the bot. It is not missed-call text-back as a priced SKU. It is not a reviews product. Appointment requests can land on Google Calendar when you connect it. That is still not a native write into Jobber or Housecall Pro.

Buy Starter if after-hours is a real problem, 100 calls is close to a real month, and you want the overage bill to stay a line item instead of a new plan. Buy Pro when two lines or a bigger crew need more included calls and more alert seats. Buy Multi-Truck when you run several trucks or locations and want per-tech routing on the published card.
Skip it
Do not buy Starter thinking 100 calls equals unlimited overflow. Do not buy it if a 2 a.m. emergency needs a person on the line. That is still Smith.ai or Ruby. Do not buy it as a ServiceTitan brain. Avoca sits in that quote-only aisle. Do not treat the human answering range they quote ($200 to $500 a month) as OnCrew pricing. That is the comparison copy on their site.
The catch
The reason not to buy, even when $49 matches Rosie Professional, is the meter and the maturity. Rosie Professional gives 250 minutes and texts a booking link. OnCrew Starter gives 100 calls and bills $0.99 after. If your month is short rings and high volume, Rosie’s minute bucket may last longer. If your month is fewer, longer calls, OnCrew’s per-call overage is the cleaner invoice. Either way you are still on AI-only product with thin third-party reviews the day we sat through the page.
