What it actually does
Housecall Pro is the shop operating system. Codefied Inc. does business as Housecall Pro at housecallpro.com. You schedule the truck, send the estimate, take the card in the driveway, and ask for the Google review from the same job. That is the product. Review management is on every plan. It is not a $75 extra the way NiceJob is.
There are two public tables. The generic /pricing page (August 28, 2026) shows Basic $79, Essentials $189, MAX $329 on the monthly toggle, and a default Annual toggle of $59 / $149 / $299. HVAC and plumbing live on a Mechanical Package at /industries/hvac-software/ and the plumbing industry page. Monthly cash there: Basic $79 (1 user), Essentials Individual $229 / Teams $299 (5 users, extra $100), MAX Individual $349 / Teams $649 (8 users, extra $75). MAX teams is a demo CTA. Mechanical annual dollars render as unpublished $XX. Do not apply the generic $59 / $149 / $299 annual to a plumber. Do not print the HVAC FAQ leftover $399. The live HVAC MAX individual card is $349.
From on our card is $79, the Basic monthly cash both tables share. Extra seats on Mechanical match the generic extras: $100 on Essentials, $75 on MAX. Do not publish stale “$35 extra user” JSON.
It is not an AI receptionist on Basic. CSR AI is a named paid add-on with no public dollar. Analyst, Coach, Marketing, and Help AI are free. HCP Assist (human virtual assistant) and Voice are other Custom add-ons. Terms bill Assist connected calls rounded up 30 seconds, plus 30 seconds of after-call work. Campaigns is the add-on with a Help price: $9 / $19 / $49 / $89. Do not print blog guesses for CSR AI.
Sales Proposal is marketed as a $40/mo value and bundled in MAX on the generic page. Card processing as low as 2.59%. Bank / ACH 1%. Chargeback fee $25.
Who should buy it
Buy it
Buy it if you run a home-service shop and you actually needed one system for the calendar, the invoice, and the review ask. Basic $79 is the one-truck floor. If you are HVAC or plumbing, Essentials starts at $229 individual, not $189. MAX individual is $349, not $329. Teams MAX is $649.
Skip it
Do not buy it if you only needed Google reviews. That is NiceJob at $75. Do not buy Basic thinking CSR AI is in the box. That add-on is Custom. Do not buy it as a Jobber replacement on price. Jobber Core is $49. Do not quote the generic annual toggle to a plumber.
The catch
The reason not to buy, even when the OS is the right aisle, is the split price book plus the cancel. Marketing FAQ: no long-term contracts, cancel anytime. Terms of Service, last modified July 1, 2026: subscriptions auto-renew for a period equal to the term you picked. Fees are not prorated or refunded except as the Terms say. Cancel by email to cancellations@housecallpro.com. The Help Center is blunter: chat, then a phone call with the account owner. Billing will not finish cancel or pause until that call. Downgrades wait until the end of the current period. The 14-day trial runs MAX features with no card. It closes if you never add payment. A 30-day money-back shows in Help and in a stale iOS ToS from April 2023. It is not in the July 1, 2026 web Terms. Treat it as conditional, only if it was offered at signup and documented.
