Pros

Cons

  • You buy new job credits, not seats. Starter is only 50 new jobs a month; Growing is 150. A busy month forces an upgrade even when headcount is fine
  • ServiceM8 Phone is separate from $19/mo. Do not treat the OS plan as your phone system
  • Jobber Core is $49 cash for 1 user with no job-credit ceiling on our card. High new-job volume can make ServiceM8 the more expensive path
  • ServiceM8 is a Shop OS at servicem8.com/pricing, checked October 27, 2026. Paid starts at Starter $29 a month with unlimited users and 50 new jobs.
  • Ladder: Free $0 (1 user, 30 jobs), Starter $29 (50), Growing $79 (150), Premium $149 (500), Premium Plus $349 (1500+). Phone add-on from $19/mo.
  • FAQ: 14-day trial, no card required, no lock-ins. You buy job credits, not seats.

What it actually does

ServiceM8 is the shop operating system at servicem8.com. You create a job card, quote, schedule, invoice, text the client, and take a card payment from the phone. That is the product. It is not a reviews company. It is not a receptionist unless you add ServiceM8 Phone.

The pricing story is job credits. Every new job card uses one credit for the month. A quote that becomes a work order does not burn a second credit. On servicem8.com/pricing, read October 27, 2026: Free $0 with 1 user and 30 new jobs a month, Starter $29 with unlimited users and 50 jobs, Growing $79 with 150, Premium $149 with 500, Premium Plus $349 with 1500+. Paid plans are not per seat. From on our card is Starter $29. Do not put Free $0 in From.

Essentials sit on every plan: job cards, scheduling, quotes, invoices, mobile apps, online bookings, card payments, and accounting sync (Xero, QuickBooks Online, MYOB named). Higher plans unlock forms you build yourself, asset management, Inbox, and proposals. ServiceM8 Phone is separate from $19 a month. FAQ: 14-day free trial, no card, no lock-ins, upgrade or downgrade anytime.

SMS: AU pricing-comparison lists additional SMS at 10¢. The US FAQ says paid plans have a monthly SMS cap, then overage. We are not inventing included SMS counts we could not read clearly on the US table.

Who should buy it

Buy it

Buy it if you run a home-service business, you want one board for quote through invoice, and unlimited logins matter more than an open job ceiling. Solo operators can stay on Free at 30 new jobs. A small crew under 50 new jobs a month gets Starter at $29, below Jobber Core at $49 cash for one user and Housecall Pro Basic at $79 on our cards. Growing at $79 matches Housecall Pro Basic on the monthly number with unlimited users, if 150 new jobs is enough.

Skip it

Do not buy it if new-job volume is high and you do not want to climb the ladder. Starter’s 50-job wall is real. Growing’s 150 still caps a busy week. Jobber Core at $49 does not meter new jobs that way on our card. Two-way SMS on Jobber starts at Grow $199. Housecall Pro Basic at $79 includes the review ask on every plan. Do not buy the OS plan thinking you bought a phone system. Phone is from $19 more.

The catch

The reason not to buy, even when the aisle is right, is the credit ceiling. FAQ: go over and you get about 7 days of grace, then upgrade. Premium Plus lists extra jobs at 20¢ on the AU comparison page. Seat-based Jobber and Housecall Pro hurt when the roster grows. ServiceM8 hurts when the job board fills up.

FAQ

What does ServiceM8 cost?

On servicem8.com/pricing (October 27, 2026): Free $0, Starter $29, Growing $79, Premium $149, Premium Plus $349 a month. Paid plans include unlimited users. New jobs per month are 30 / 50 / 150 / 500 / 1500+. Phone is a separate add-on from $19/mo. From on our card is Starter $29, not Free.

Is ServiceM8 priced per user?

No on paid plans. Their FAQ says only Free limits you to one user. Once you are on Starter or higher, you can add as many logins as you need. You pay for the plan's monthly new-job credits instead.

What happens if I go over my job credits?

FAQ: you can keep creating jobs for another 7 days. If the month resets in that window, credits refresh. Otherwise you are prompted to upgrade. AU pricing-comparison lists additional jobs at 20¢ each for Premium Plus.
