What it actually does
Moneypenny answers your business phone when you cannot. You keep your number and forward calls to them. On the people side, US receptionists take messages, qualify leads, transfer callers, and work from scripts you set. The site lists bilingual answering, caller recognition, a mobile app and dashboard, CRM integrations, and a free forwarding number on those plans.
On the AI side, Moneypenny’s AI receptionist page says the bot handles FAQs, lead qualification, appointment booking, call routing, and data collection. It can escalate to your team or to a live Moneypenny receptionist when the call needs a person. Setup is guided: you brief the voice and call flows with a Solutions Architect, test, then forward.
Our math on the people starter: $165 for 50 minutes is $3.30 per included minute before overage. Our math on the AI starter: $99 for 50 calls is $1.98 per included call. Those are plan-card divisions, not Moneypenny’s labels.
Who should buy it
Buy it
Buy people answering if you want a live receptionist brand and will use the minutes. Law offices, clinics, agencies, and multi-location service businesses that hate voicemail fit. Buy AI answering if most calls are FAQs, bookings, and routing, and you still want a human path when the bot should hand off.
The catch
The reason not to buy is the meter. People minutes cost more here than on PATLive at every size we compared on our cards ($99 for 50 minutes there, $165 here). AI per-call billing burns the allowance on short junk the same as on real leads. If you only need a cheap AI line, Rosie is $49 a month for 250 AI minutes on our card, and Upfirst starts at $24.95. If you want human and AI on one minute pool, compare Abby Connect from $165. Ruby starts people at $250 for 50 minutes on our card, so Moneypenny undercuts Ruby at that size.
